Progressive Media USA asked me to refine their logo and develop a WordPress-based site for their blog, press releases, and research. The site integrates with Twitter for social news updates and promises to be a major outpost for progressive advocacy in the 2008 elections.

My work on the Dodd Campaign included design for multiple targeted emails each week. I created both the template and the feature graphics for these emails.

In addition to designing graphics for these emails, I witnessed the evolution of email campaigning in the 2008 race. Emails from our internet team at Dodd developed a reputation of innovation and experimentation during the primary run.

While working as Art Director and Designer for Chris Dodd’s Presidential campaign I built graphics daily for the front page and other sections of the site. A selection of these graphics are included here.

Often graphics were needed quickly in order to respond to the news of the day:

The Talk Clock was one of the most popular features of ChrisDodd.com. In an effort to encourage a more fair allocation of time at the debates we designed a tool for tracking talk time live during each debate:

Finally, a selection of graphics from a contest that ultimately struck out with lawyers for Major League Baseball.

Working on the Dodd Campaign website was a remarkable experience. Though the campaign never broke out of the “second tier,” we developed a strong and vocal base of support in the progressive netroots community. By actively engaging blog commenters and reaching out on social networking sites we effectively spread the word on our issues-based campaign.

Client: Chris Dodd for President 2008
Objective: Inform and mobilize supporters of the progressive Democratic candidate.
Design: A semantically clean and streamlined take on red, white, and blue built on the Drupal content management system.

Design Work: Inspired by an ESPN widget, the design highlights the film’s remarkable high school students instead of all star athletes. A different student is loaded at random on each page reload.
