FILM: Esther Kahn (10) This film topped a bunch of 2002 critics polls, but didn’t seem to screen much outside of New York. It is a trancelike period-piece about a shy Jewish girl in victorian London who herself falls into a trance as she becomes a stage actress who believes her plays are reality. [dir. Desplechin, 2001]
